Bartleby is a hub for student learning that’s been developed by Barnes & Noble Education.

What Do Bartleby Offer?

The website Barletby is split into two broad areas – learn and write.

The write section gives advice and tools to support better writing from students, reducing mistakes, improve writing habits, and transform average essays into great ones. Tools include a grammar and spell checker, a plagiarism checker, and a citation tool. They even have some AI technology that can analyze your essay before you submit it to give you an idea of your likely grade.

The learn section covers school and college subjects as diverse as business, engineering, languages, maths, science, social science, and literature. Broadly speaking, their offering in the learn section is either experts to answer homework questions (with a median response time of 34 minutes), or a database that stores step by step solutions to millions of textbook problems.

Each of these two site areas requires a subscription. Write starts at $40 per month, and Learn costs $9.99 per month. There is a 30-day trial option for Learn which comes with 10 free homework help questions.

Shakespeare On Bartleby

Bartleby have a literature-specific section on their website, and although it’s tucked well away from easy discovery we’ve been able to find 50 essays on Shakespeare.

These essays take the form of seemingly unstructured topics – anything from an “Analysis of Shakespeare’s Othello” to “Shakespeare And Wordsworth William Shakespeare: The Bard Of Wordsworth”. Each essay is around 1,00 words, with the first couple of hundred available to read for free, and a subscription required for full access.

Bartleby is certainly one of the big boys of the online education and study guide space – both in their literature offering and the many other subjects they cover.

Their website currently receives around 9 million visits each month, with website users spending between three and four minutes on average reading 3 pages each visit.

Almost 60% of their users come from the United States, with other English-speaking countries such as India, Canada, and the United Kingdom making up the bulk of the remaining users. One interesting geography to note is that the Philippines is their second-largest market, accounting for just over 5% of their website visitors.
