Shakespeare’s King John play is set in thirteenth-century England during the reign of King John, although in actual history the events depicted occurred a century later. The action takes place in rural England and Angier in France – in palaces and on battlefields. It is interesting that looking at the play in the twenty-first century it’s quite postmodern in that it presents historym and what have always seemed its significant eventsm as haphazard mistakes and inconsequential, random actions.
